Chapter History

The University of Massachusetts Boston believes in excellence and strives to provide the best environment possible for guiding our Golden Key members to achieve in academics, leadership, and service. The 213th Golden Key chapter, UMass Boston was chartered on May 19, 1994, as a part of U.S. Region 10, which includes institutions in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Upstate New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

With more than 3,000 members since 1994, the University of Massachusetts Boston Golden Key chapter is a large one and our members have gone on to do great things in their lives. Honorary members include Donna Summers, Joseph P. Kennedy II, Late Past Mayor Thomas Menino (City of Boston), Chancellor J. Keith Motley.

Our chapter is also very focused on service; members perform hundreds of hours of community service each year, and we have maintained a Gold Standing for exemplary community outreach. We welcome prospective members who are in the top 15% of their class and interested in service and leadership development.
